Difference Between Babysitter and Nanny

Babysitter:

A babysitter is typically hired when the child is at least one year old.

Babysitter job responsibilities may include:

  • Taking the child to and from daycare or school
  • Supervising playtime activities and engaging with the child
  • Following a set meal schedule and ensuring the child is fed appropriately
  • Assisting with teaching and educational activities, depending on the child’s age and syllabus

Babysitters generally work with children aged 1 to 5 years.

Nanny:

A nanny is often hired when the child is around two months old or after the initial period of a japa maid’s services with a newborn baby.

Nanny job responsibilities may include:

  • Providing essential care such as bathing and massaging the baby
  • Handling laundry tasks related to the baby’s clothes
  • Changing diapers and ensuring the baby stays clean throughout the day
  • Assisting in putting the baby to sleep and soothing them when needed
  • Preparing appropriate meals for the baby and feeding them

Nannies are commonly hired for babies aged 45 days to 1 year old.
